I have been developing a new ecommerce website using Magento Commerce and it is nearing completion so for those of you who can't wait until the launch date here is it: www.languages-direct.com. There are a few issues resolve such as the home page and banner collateral but it is almost there.
The website has been structured with accessibility in mind, however, due to the current javascript reliance that is inherent in the current version of Magento there a still a few accessibility issues. Languages Direct features a few customizations to Magento that are outlined below:
- I have rolled out 2 custom modules to allow for the top menu to be structured for usability.
- As the website is part of a multi-domain setup I have used symlinks to provide local file access to skin files and core Magento files allowing the website to run independently under its own domain.
- There are many custom attributes at work within category display pages that enhance usability and content navigation.
- Openx adserver has been setup to manage banner creative.
- Campaign monitor has been integrated with the system and provides direct api access for newsletter management.
